Health statistcs
Very few Pharaoh Hounds are tested, x-rayed and/or examined hopefully mostly because owners selldom feel they encounter health problems regarding their dogs. The Pharaoh Hound is said to be a healthy breed and we have no claims of anything else. Either way we believe it to be in the best interests of the breed to be outspoked with any eventual problems one might come across. Nobody wants to breed sick animals still there are no guarantees no matter how hard you try. But with open reasonable discussion it will be much easier to take enlightened long-term breeding decisions that will benefit the dogs in the long run. It is important that the attitude towards genetic diseases changes so that it is not every man's dirty little secret. This is a responsibility we carry along.
The statistics below is based upon results known to us regarding the 39 Faouziah's PH's born and is very inconclusive due to the low number of dogs examined but we have decided to present it anyway. All the results listed are either diagnosed diseases that might be hereditary or exam-results registered and also to be found on the Swedish or in some cases other countries KC databases. "Unknown" equals the number of dogs not examined. Don't hesitate to contact us if there's anything in specific you wonder about regarding the stats below.
