Presentation
Kennel Faouziah's is a small hobby kennel founded in 1999 and kept by Anna Larsson and Tanja Sadelheim. Our dogs are highly loved family members and our commitment to the Pharaoh Hound based on a true love of the breed and respect of its history. The kennel prefix is a tribute to Annas very first PH and is also a re-write of the arabic word for victorious.

Annas engagement in the breed started in the late 80's when Anna met, fell in love with and finaly purchased the young female Antefa's Faouziah. Coming from a "doggy family" with GS, Cairn, Borzoi and OES' around her thoughts of breeding had always been natural, not just feeling that special "it" for any breed yet. But with the PH it was love at first sight and Anna knew she was destined for the breed. In the early 90's Anna got her second PH, the rescue bitch Chasselli's Halil.

Tanja entered the established kennel in 2004. By then Tanja and Anna had been travelling a lot together campaigning Tanjas PH Ch Faouziah's Bastet to great successes and had already together enjoyed the very stimulating hobby of helping puppy buyers with practical as well as show training. And not to forget the rewarding handling of the breeders group at shows. As Tanja joined the kennel for real the Smooth Foxterrier where added, since this was Tanjas first breed at that point.

There is an enormous strength in being two and even though we are very different in many ways we also complement each other. Our basic ideals are very similar; all dogs need to function in todays society and be adaptable, all dogs used in breeding also need to be healthy and true to their standard. We feel there are no exeptions to this. A huge responsibility lie on any dog owners to attend their dog in such a way that they are given the best of posibility to develope in a correct manner both psysically and mentaly. And if you can not live by that rule yourself you can't expect your puppy buyers to.

Besides dogs, we are also the best of friends with many common interests such as movies, books, and especially history. Through our respective grandmothers genealogy (both of them also grew up simultaneously on Sweden's second largest island - Öland - unaware of each other) we have also learnt that we acctually have common roots as far back as the 1600's.

Tanja is the one always remembering all the facts, pedigrees and stats. She is also very active in the breed club and has been for many years. Anna is doing most of the handling and is more of a person where "gut instinct" plays a large part. She also really enjoys the upbringing of the pups and to do the dogs training. One of Annas most enjoyable moments in PH's besides our own rewarding breeding was the honour of judging the breed club special Farkkushow in Finland 2007.

We have been blessed with quite a few fabulous puppy buyers who really enjoy the sport and love to show their dogs. To them and all the other families who provide their babies with loving active lives we are grateful. It is very rewarding for us to be a part of this magnificent breed and a joy indeed to have got to know all these fabulous PH fanciers, some of them has become our friends for life.

Credit where credit's due
Searching for a female that might be the foundation bitch that Anna longed for, the most interesting combination available was a litter at Farao Anubis kennel. And in April 1996, Ch Farao Anubis Isis (Ch KBir Ramses El-Kabul x Ch Enigma Shining Hickory) was born. This super charming and affectionate girl brought so much love and joy to Annas life. Being bred only once, she was our foundation bitch and the start of the kennel and many of our successful Faouziah's are her descendants. Iris lived to be 13th years old.

Shortly after Anna learned that one of her favourite bitches were to be mated as kennel Siphra's in Finland planned a breeding to a male in Holland. Anna immediately booked a female puppy and Ch Siphra's Tell Me No Lies (Ch Imerat-Paroo Of The Netherlands x Ch Siphra's Mama Mia) where born in May 1998. It was soon evident that Vera was something out of the ordinary. She was Top Winning PH in both 1999 & 2000 and an outstanding achiever in the showrings. Besides all that Vera proved to be an extra ordinary brood bitch, a champion, groupwinners and BIS winning off spring producer.

One of the dogs that has made the greatest impact for us is a daughter of Vera and grand daughter to Iris, namely Ch Faouziah's Bastet, a k a Juno. This so lovely and outstanding bitch truly made her mark in the showrings, winning an all breed KC Puppy BIS as the first PH in Sweden to do so, winning an all breed KC BIS also as the first PH in Sweden to do so, becoming Runner-Up at the prestigeous Champion Of Champions gala also as the first PH in Sweden to do so and also still beeing the only PH to accomplish an spectacular Supreme BIS at the Swedish summer dog show cirquits. Juno holds many more wonderful KC and specials BIS wins, where we count her BIS at the Helsinki all breed KC Winter Show as one of her greatest, and she truly is somewhat of a breeders dream come true. Juno has also proven to carry on her bloodline as a great brood bitch trough her exclusive pups.

In early 2009 we had the super chance to buy another female pup, this time from the world wide known kennel Antefa's, and Antefa's Terrakotta, a k a Stella (Ch Antefa's Pharaoh x Ch Antefa's Qilolah) came to live with Tanja.

Our brood bitches has had an tremendous inpact on our successful breeding and of course the males we have had the possibility to use (Ch Antefa's Jabbah-Kaa, Ch Antefa's Minas Tirith, Ch Farao Anubis Ikaros, Ch Faouziah's Akunosh, Ch Northgate's Dont Blame Me and Ch Siphra's King Of Hearts) has played an equally big part. And we are truly thankful over the breeders and stud owners willingness to share their very best with us!
